Community
Skip Season 4
Total number of seasons: 6
Community‘s fourth season, sometimes described as “the gas leak year,” is not terrible but it does not quite belong to the rest of the series. The show’s creator, Dan Harmon, was not involved in the creation of this season, which makes it look foreign to the rest of the series, and definitely inferior in quality. When Harmon came back for season five, Community regained its soul back, and produced some great episodes that are still very much worth watching. You can just read a summary of what happened in season four to be up-to-date on the plot and skip it.
According to Screen Rant (warning: spoilers in the full article),
Season 4 was, to put it mildly, not well received by the show’s fanbase. Characters now seemed to have completely different motivations and personalities than in the previous three seasons, the humor was much broader and less vicious, and the show’s innovation had eroded into stale gimmickry. […] Some of the show’s finest moments happened in season 5, and by all accounts Harmon cleaned up his act behind the scenes. […] That sixth season was just as good…
An exception can be made for the eleventh episode of the season. Written by Jim Rash (who plays Dean Pelton), Basic Human Anatomy is on par with the show’s better episodes.
